The Detective

Build the play

Save the niche. Watch it move.

The Project Tracker keeps the niches you are seriously considering in one place. Status pills, notes, and a bell that lights up the moment a saved niche resurfaces in a fresh analysis.

What it does

A working memory for the niches you have not picked yet.

Save the niche. Track the status.

One row per niche. Five status pills covering the full lifecycle from researching to killed. A free text notes field per niche so the rationale lives next to the row.

Get pinged when it resurfaces.

When a tracked niche reappears in a new ranked analysis, the bell lights up. Rising signal, score change, new evidence: you find out without rereading every report.

Watch the score move over time.

Every cycle the tracker logs the niche score so you see the trend. A niche that scores 6.2 today and 7.8 next month is a signal worth opening.

Five states

The full lifecycle of a niche.

Every saved niche carries one of these pills. Change it as the story changes. The tracker keeps the history so next cycle reads in context.

Status pills

ResearchingBuildingLivePausedKilled
  1. Researching

On the shortlist. Still reading the evidence, talking to potential buyers, sanity checking the wedge before you commit time.

  2. Building

You picked it. Stack is going up, first version is in progress. The 30 day play is the working document.

  3. Live

Shipped. Real customers, real revenue. The tracker becomes the running record of what is working and what is not.

  4. Paused

Not now. Waiting on a regulatory window, a personal bandwidth gap, or a missing tool. The notes hold the reason so future you remembers.

  5. Killed

Ruled out. The notes capture why so we never spend an analysis on it again, and so a future signal change can revive it on purpose.

How it works

Three moves. That is the whole loop.

  1. Save what survives.

From any ranked analysis, pin the niches you are seriously considering. The save is a row in the tracker with the score and the rationale snapshot intact.

  2. Tag the status. Write the note.

Researching, Building, Live, Paused, or Killed. The notes field is yours: customer conversations, blockers, decisions, anything you want future you to remember.

  3. Watch for resurrection.

Every new cycle the system checks: did a tracked niche return with a higher score, fresh evidence, or a market move worth knowing? If yes, the bell lights up.

Resurrection alerts

When a saved niche comes back, you hear about it.

You looked at a niche in March. Score was 6.4. You paused it because the regulatory window was wrong. Three cycles later the same niche shows up at 8.1 with two fresh primary sources and a competitive shift. The tracker flags it. You decide whether to reopen.

Without the tracker, that signal disappears into your archive. With it, the niche you almost picked stays in peripheral vision for as long as you keep the row.

FAQ

Common questions about the tracker.

Where does the tracker live?

Inside your dashboard at /dashboard/tracker once you sign in. This page is the explainer. The actual surface is product chrome.

What counts as a project?

A project is a single play you are working through. Hunter caps you at one active project so you stay focused. Operator removes the cap for portfolio operators running several bets at once.

What triggers a resurrection alert?

A tracked niche reappearing in a new ranked analysis with a higher score, fresh primary evidence, or a relevant market move. The bell lights up. You open the row and read what changed.

Can I migrate notes off the platform?

Yes. Operator includes native exports to Linear, Notion, and Trello. Across every tier you can copy text out of the notes field. We do not hold your reasoning hostage.

What happens to a killed niche?

The row stays. Notes stay. We do not auto-rank a killed niche back into a future cycle, but you can revive it manually if a signal change makes the original kill reason obsolete.
